Super Biflex Chrono-Carbon Rip-Stop
All of our Carbon Shirts and Trousers feature a “Super Biflex, Chrono-Carbon Rip-Stop” fabric manufactured by Italian textile specialists Mectex, based in Erba in Lombardy.
Founded in 1960, Mectex is a champion of the stretch fabric world having spent decades producing the best performance technology for athletes, sportswear and luxury clothing companies. Recognising that they cannot compete with the price point of textiles manufactured in Asia, Mectex now work exclusively on specialist fabrics for a small number of exclusive clients.
But why carbon? The use of a nano carbon filament allows for the dynamic gating of infrared radiation - this being the convection of heat. As you perspire in arid conditions, the yarns in this fabric contract, allowing more of the infrared radiation emitted by the body to pass through - cooling you down. When cool and dry the opposite process occurs, the yarn expands, trapping infrared radiation and heat by extension. This is an instantaneous process allowing you to remain in a comfort state for as long as possible.
As well as having great thermal regulating properties, carbon is antimicrobial which aids odour control and its natural fortitude helps add some structural integrity to the dexterity of the biflex stretch fabric. The fabric also boasts UPF protection, blocking up to 98% of the sun’s rays reducing your risk of exposure significantly.
