A legend in his own right
About
Hari Budha Magar – a legend in his own right. Hari joined the Gurkha Regiment of the British Army when he was 19 years old and went on to serve his country in The Royal Gurkha Rifles. The Gurkhas are renowned for being a formidably tough and ferocious fighting force. It was here that Hari was deployed to some of the most dangerous and hostile areas on the planet.
Hari was medically discharged from the Gurkhas after losing both legs above the knee to an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan in 2010. Hari sustained further multiples injuries including post-traumatic stress disorder.
“I am a soldier that has been trained to fight. In the past it was the enemy, but today I am fighting this injury."
Hari’s project
Conquering Dreams
Hari’s mantra is as follows, “I am a soldier that has been trained to fight. In the past it was the enemy, but today I am fighting this injury. I fight to re-establish my mental health. I will live my life to the fullest whilst inspiring others.”
Hari’s project – named Conquering Dreams – is his plan to be the first double amputee to summit Mount Everest, with the assistance of a bespoke ThruDark Summit Suit.
Hari approached other branded summit suit manufacturers to see if they could produce a bespoke suit to fit his body. When he had no luck with this, ThruDark stepped up to provide a bespoke solution for Hari’s mission. The Conquering Dreams project is still ongoing and Hari plans on summiting Everest in the near future.
Hari is an inspiration and is doing exactly what he set out to do – just as those who know him will expect.
